Now Qatar wants to claim the longest flight crown

In this race to run the longest flight in the world everyone wants to score the brownie points. Qatar Airways has jumped into the fray now and wants to run the world’s longest flight. As per the The Telegraph’s report, the airlines intends to run the flight from Doha to Auckland which would be a 9,032 mile flight beating the current record holder Dallas-Sydney flight which is a cool 8578 miles and takes 17hrs. Now I know you would say that Emirates is planning to launch Dubai-Panama route which is planned to begin service from mid-March 2016 but even that flight at 8588 miles and 17.5hrs of flight time will not be able to beat this planed route. A320neo facing production issues?

Airbus’s top seller seems to be facing some production issues even before it can be inducted by the airlines in their fleet. Initially news came in about Lufthansa being the launch customer for the aircraft replacing Qatar. Now we are hearing that Indian customers, Indigo and GoAir have also expressed reservations about the delivery schedule of the A320neo aircrafts. The airlines have commented that they are not confident about when will Airbus be able to start the deliveries of the latest generation aircraft to them. Indigo which is the largest acquirer of the aircraft model seems to be hit hardest should these delays pile up. Singapore Airlines A350 starts taking shape

Airbus has been all gung ho about their A350 production plans. As of now it’s only their launch customer, Qatar Airways that flies the A350 and very soon Vietnam Airlines and TAM will be taking the delivery of its own. One Mile at a Time reviewed the A350 including the inaugural flight and you can read about it here and here. Today Airbus posted about the first A-350 XWB for Singapore Airlines that’s come onto the production line. Qatar Airways is running a promotion whereby you can earn up to 100,000 bonus Qmiles from April to December 2015 by simply travelling to at least one of the destination cities in each themed segment city during that theme’s offer period. Etihad all set for its India push

Etihad is trying to make the most of the bilateral pact signed between India and Abu Dhabi that allows it to expand the current allocation of 13,600 seats on flights between the two countries to a whopping 50,000. In a statement made by the airline, it stated its intention to use a wide-body Airbus A340-600 aircraft on one of the two daily flights to Mumbai and the wide-body A330-200 aircraft on one of the two daily flights to Delhi. Not only that ,the airline will also operate a larger aircraft which can seat 174 passengers instead of the 136-seater deployed currently on its daily flight to Chennai.
