Air Canada flight diverted twice!

An Air Canada flight from Frankfurt to Toronto  had the misfortune of being diverted to London’s Heathrow airport twice on the same day in a matter of hours. According to the news article, the flight AC 873 on 3rd March 2016 took off from Frankfurt and right when it hit the UK shores, the crew detected an electrical odour and pilots declared an emergency and landed at the Heathrow airport for further checks. On being cleared for take-off after no issues were found, the plane took off again only to return back to Heathrow with the same issue. This must have been a great inconvenience for the passengers and a huge cost for the airline also as they ended up accommodating all the 336 passengers on-board…

Oman air buys London Heathrow slot for $75m

Oman Air is name that won’t be familiar to many of the travelers given that they aren’t in the league of the big Middle East 3 cousins namely Emirates, Etihad and Qatar Airways. But the airline has started flexing its muscles to show that it means serious business. As part of this, the airline has bought the coveted landing slot at London Heathrow for $75million from Air France-KLM, this beats the previous record of $60million deal done between American Airlines which bought the slot from Scandinavian carrier SAS. Conclusion: Landing slots at the London Heathrow have become prized commodities with the early morning slots commanding the most premium with airlines targetting premium customers. Tightrope walking at the most unusual place

When you design a mega structure like an airport terminal it is assumed that you will take into consideration every possible thing that can go wrong. Apparently the designers of Heathrow Terminal 5 seem to have gotten the basic concept wrong. As per a story published by Gizmodo, nearly 60% of light bulbs in the terminal are non-functional due to lack of a cost effective solution to fix them. So how does the terminal intend to solve this problem? Well the airport wants to hire tightrope walkers to fix them. So much for spending of billions of dollars to create a world class terminal and then stumbling over such small oversights. If only they had thought of this while designing they would have been spared…

Malaysia Airlines and Air France to launch new A380 services

Malaysia Airlines is planning to start its A380 service from KL-London Heathrow from 2nd July 2012, As per the information provided at Airlineroute.net The 503 seater aircraft will be operating 3 times a week service initially and switch to daily service from 15th August 2012. The reservation for the same is open and the schedule will be as follows: Kuala Lumpur – London Heathrow MH002     KUL      2340 – 0550+1    LHR MH003     LHR     1200 – 0725+1     KUL The airline has opted for a 3 cabin configuration with 8 First Class seats on the Lower deck, 52 Business Class seats on the Upper deck and 96 Economy seats on the Upper Deck and 347 Economy seats on the Lower deck.
