Kingfisher pilots pick up a unique form of protest

As reported in a business daily in India today, Kingfisher pilots have started a unique a form of protest against the company for the non-payment of their salaries since the last two months, the pilots have been announcing and I quote “it is their sense of duty towards the guest that is making them fly despite not being paid salaries for the past two months" The announcements which started this Wednesday on flights out of Delhi seem to be spreading to other flights too, The announcements which are a part of a wider protest by pilots after a deadline set by them passed without any payments being made. Kingfisher enters Frequent Flyer agreement with American Airlines

Kingfisher Airlines has announced signing up a comprehensive frequent flier agreement with American Airlines. As part of the agreement, which covers the entire route network of both airlines, King Club members would be able to earn King Miles when they fly on any American Airlines flights. Similarly, frequent flyers of American Airlines would be able to earn AAdvantage miles when they fly on any Kingfisher Airlines flight. Going forward King Club members will also be able to redeem their accumulated King Club Miles to undertake travel on an American Airlines flight anywhere on their network. Air Berlin to commence non-stop operations from Berlin to Los Angeles

OneWorld member-elect Air Berlin will commence non-stop flight operations from Berlin to Los Angeles, the airline plans to start a three times-weekly service starting May 2012. The new route will allow the airline to integrate much better with its OneWorld partner American Airlines hub at LA and utilize redemptions on each others routes from their respective hubs. The airline plans to use a Airbus A330-200 aircraft offering both business and economy class for this route. The inaugural flight on this route starts on 11th May 2012 with flight AB7022 departing Berlin Tegel at 1000 on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and arriving in Los Angeles at 1250. Malaysia Airlines launches an app for Google Chrome browser

Malaysia Airlines recently launched an app for Google Chrome named MHquick, the App which is available for free in the Chrome Store allows you to search for flights, manage bookings and check out the Enrich Account details. Although the app is in Beta but it still is pretty nifty and easy to use. The App is available here. This app is the latest offering from the airline after launching their mobile site, and Facebook app. The OneWorld member elect is really ramping up its presence in the digital world with various initiatives and this is definitely a very good step in that path. BA buys 6 daily slot pairs at Heathrow from bmi

BA is cementing its presence at its London-Heathrow (LHR) hub by buying 6 daily slot pairs from the troubled airline bmi British Midland International. As reported by BA parent, International Airlines Group (IAG) in a press release, “BA plans to use these slots from late October 2011 for operating more long-haul and short haul flights”. This is a big boost for the OneWorld alliance and a dent for the Star Alliance presence at the major hub in London. bmi is the second largest operator out of Heathrow airport serving many destinations both within UK and internationally, Initial reports suggest that the deal could be worth €100m-€150m. British Airways plans to spend £5bn on fleet upgrade and modernization

British Airways announced today its plans to spend more than £5 billion on customer products and services over the next five years. The funds will be allocated for the following activities: Purchase of new aircrafts. New World Traveller and World Traveller Plus cabins. A revamped First Class.
