KrisFlyer updates regarding TAM Airlines and US Airways

Given that from 31 March 2014 onward, TAM Airlines and US Airways will no longer be members of Star Alliance. KrisFlyer sent across an update informing the changes with regards to accrual and redemption while flying these two airlines.

Redemption for normal members will stop from 31st March 2014 onward on both airlines, although PPS Club and KrisFlyer members can continue to submit retroactive mileage claims for US Airways-operated flights until 31 January 2015. Also redemption bookings confirmed before 1 August 2014 for travel on/after 1 August 2014 will be honored or re-accommodated by US Airways for a period of 360 days.

Overall there is still a long way to go for redeeming your miles but I won’t be the one redeeming my KrisFlyer on any other airlines except Singapore Airlines where they make most sense to be spent. More details are awaited in terms of how the TAM redemption will work out especially with the football World Cup coming up in Brazil this year.
