Etihad launches code-share with Malaysia Airlines

Etihad Airways recently announced that they have entered into a marketing agreement with Malaysia Airlines where by Etihad Guests can now earn and redeem miles on Etihad marketed Malaysia Airlines flights, also to celebrate the launch of their partnership Etihad is offering 2,000 bonus miles for the first eligible flight on Malaysia Airlines between 15 September and 14 December, 2011. Malaysia Airlines has an extensive network covering 100 destinations across 6 continents which gives Etihad a considerable reach into new territories. The mileage accrual chart is as follows: Booking classes – R, I, T, N, G, Z, X of Malaysian Airlines do not accrue any miles. Kingfisher’s air viability under question

As per Kingfisher’s annual report for the year ended March 31, 2011, the airline is in dire need of funds to keep going. Saddled  with huge debt and mounting losses, the airline has been finding it tough to raise money in the current market conditions. The airline had planned to raise $250-$350 million through an issue of global depositary receipts in January 2011 but it turned out to be a non-starter. Is Qantas planning to name its new premium Asian airline RedQ?

Ever since Qantas announced that it intended to setup a new airline which would cater to the premium traffic in Asia there have been hundreds of name floating around for the same with the most popular one being “Qantasia”. Earlier this week in a quick application to the Australian Intellectual Property regulator, Qantas has managed to trademark “RedQ”, “RedSky” and “OneAsia”. As per the filing the company has also secured rights for the name “RedQ Executive Flyer”. This leads me to believe that Qantas plans to name its new Asian Premium airline “RedQ” and to possibly safeguard the other options under discussion they have registered the same.
