BA’s new campaign on which the carrier is estimated to have spent £20 million caused quite a flutter when it was unveiled via Facebook. Apparently in one shot in one of the shots of the 747 it was discovered that they had used their arch rival Virgin Atlantic’s plane.
In the ad which talks about the company’s motto “To Fly, To Serve” the 1st of the 3 Boeings shown standing together is a Virgin Atlantic plane which was photoshopped with BA colors but they forgot to change its tail number G-VGAL which belongs to Virgin aircraft based out of Manchester. The mistake was corrected just in time before the release.
No doubt the ad is awesome and is one of the finest efforts from the BA end to promote it’s brands but this kind of gaffe can certainly be avoided and will serve as an important lesson for BA in future.
