A320neo facing production issues?

Airbus’s top seller seems to be facing some production issues even before it can be inducted by the airlines in their fleet. Initially news came in about Lufthansa being the launch customer for the aircraft replacing Qatar. Now we are hearing that Indian customers, Indigo and GoAir have also expressed reservations about the delivery schedule of the A320neo aircrafts. The airlines have commented that they are not confident about when will Airbus be able to start the deliveries of the latest generation aircraft to them. Indigo which is the largest acquirer of the aircraft model seems to be hit hardest should these delays pile up. Lufthansa in strike related cancellations mess again

Reuters has reported that Lufthansa pilots’ strike has entered the 3rd consecutive day leading to hundreds of cancellations with the worst affected being the long haul flights. The strike called for by Vereinigung Cockpit (VC) the union representing the pilots demanding better contracts is expected to continue on Friday also. With the advent of low cost airlines on its short and medium haul routes and the Gulf carriers eating their share away on the long haul market, Lufthansa has struggled to cut costs on the employee and operational front. Virgin Atlantic eyeing to combine with BMI

As reported by Businessweek earlier, Virgin Atlantic CEO, Steve Ridgway said that the airline is actively looking to combine with bmi British Midland International, this news comes in the wake of bmi slot sale to British Airways and Lufthansa CEO Christoph Franz indicating that the ailing airline maybe on the block. Should this combine become a reality, it would provide Virgin Atlantic with a much needed domestic reach in the European markets which would help it feed its International operations which would be much a needed booster shot for the airline that is also reviewing its plans to look for potential investors after the 49% stake holder Singapore Airlines sending feelers in the market about its stake sale in Virgin Atlantic itself.
