Uber to provide last mile connectivity with new partnership

Uber the ever popular on demand ride hailing company has announced that it will be tying up with the TransLoc, a technology company that is involved in building technology products for public transit passengers and agencies. The plan is to integrate Uber into the TransLoc Rider app, which provides real-time bus tracking and route planning. The planned integration will debut as a pilot program in mid-February in Memphis, Tennessee, and Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina and will allow passengers to plan trips that combine public transportation with Uber rides. Etihad in talks to up stake in Jet Airways to 49%

Jet Airways are once again in news for the reasons related to Etihad. As per the report in Economic Times earlier today, the airline will be issuing convertible bonds worth $300-$400 million to pare down a part of its $1.7bn pile of debt. The transaction is expected to be finalized soon and would be potentially handing out Etihad a right to convert to up to 49% stake in the airline which is the maximum allowed stake for foreign airlines in the Indian carriers. A320neo facing production issues?

Airbus’s top seller seems to be facing some production issues even before it can be inducted by the airlines in their fleet. Initially news came in about Lufthansa being the launch customer for the aircraft replacing Qatar. Now we are hearing that Indian customers, Indigo and GoAir have also expressed reservations about the delivery schedule of the A320neo aircrafts. The airlines have commented that they are not confident about when will Airbus be able to start the deliveries of the latest generation aircraft to them. Air India technician dies after getting sucked into an A319 engine

In a shocking incident an Air India technician was sucked into the engine while performing pre-flight activities. The incident which happened on Wednesday night at the Mumbai airport was caused by the co-pilot misreading the signals from the ground staff and switching on the engines even though there was staff standing right next to it. Due to this sudden start, the technician was sucked right into the engine. In an email that’s reportedly being circulated, it is mentioned that Standard Operating Procedures such placing chocks, getting clearance from the technician by the pilot were not properly adhered to which led to this unfortunate event. The flight AI 619 which was headed to Hyderabad had to be cancelled as the body was stuck in the engine.…

Visa Inc.to buy Visa Europe for €21.2 bn

Visa has finally managed to put the final piece of its payment network puzzle in place with the buyout of the bank owned payment cooperative Visa Europe. Back in early Visa was a payments processor that was owned worldwide by various banks which ensured that no one bank’s interest dominated the payments network to ensure a fair playing field. Then in 2007 Visa Inc was created by buying out all the banks stake in the network but Visa Europe never joined the party.
