Malaysia Airlines and Air France to launch new A380 services

Malaysia Airlines is planning to start its A380 service from KL-London Heathrow from 2nd July 2012, As per the information provided at Airlineroute.net The 503 seater aircraft will be operating 3 times a week service initially and switch to daily service from 15th August 2012. The reservation for the same is open and the schedule will be as follows: Kuala Lumpur – London Heathrow MH002     KUL      2340 – 0550+1    LHR MH003     LHR     1200 – 0725+1     KUL The airline has opted for a 3 cabin configuration with 8 First Class seats on the Lower deck, 52 Business Class seats on the Upper deck and 96 Economy seats on the Upper Deck and 347 Economy seats on the Lower deck. Kingfisher enters Frequent Flyer agreement with American Airlines

Kingfisher Airlines has announced signing up a comprehensive frequent flier agreement with American Airlines. As part of the agreement, which covers the entire route network of both airlines, King Club members would be able to earn King Miles when they fly on any American Airlines flights. Similarly, frequent flyers of American Airlines would be able to earn AAdvantage miles when they fly on any Kingfisher Airlines flight. Going forward King Club members will also be able to redeem their accumulated King Club Miles to undertake travel on an American Airlines flight anywhere on their network. Qantas halts operations in the wake of union strike

Australian national carrier Qantas has cancelled ALL its flights until further notice. This kind of reaction to a union strike is unprecedented and has effectively led to grounding of the entire fleet. The airline advises its customers that “customers booked on Qantas flights should not go to the airport until further notice and should contact their local Qantas office for further assistance”. Qantas Link and Jetstar flights would continue to operate as normal. This brings the Qantas management head-on with the striking unions which have been striking in demand for better wages. Air Berlin to commence non-stop operations from Berlin to Los Angeles

OneWorld member-elect Air Berlin will commence non-stop flight operations from Berlin to Los Angeles, the airline plans to start a three times-weekly service starting May 2012. The new route will allow the airline to integrate much better with its OneWorld partner American Airlines hub at LA and utilize redemptions on each others routes from their respective hubs. The airline plans to use a Airbus A330-200 aircraft offering both business and economy class for this route. The inaugural flight on this route starts on 11th May 2012 with flight AB7022 departing Berlin Tegel at 1000 on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and arriving in Los Angeles at 1250. Iberia to launch Iberia Express for its short and medium haul routes

Spanish carrier Iberia which is part of the International Airlines group (IAG) has decided to start a new subsidiary named Iberia Express, the airline intends to service its short and medium haul destinations specially the Spanish domestic and European markets from Madrid offering Economy and Business Class seating at “Competitive” fares. The carrier which intends to use the subsidiary to feed traffic to its long haul operations has said that initially Iberia Express would start operations by utilizing existing Iberia aircraft, starting with four A320s going to 13 aircraft by the end of next year. Virgin Atlantic eyeing to combine with BMI

As reported by Businessweek earlier, Virgin Atlantic CEO, Steve Ridgway said that the airline is actively looking to combine with bmi British Midland International, this news comes in the wake of bmi slot sale to British Airways and Lufthansa CEO Christoph Franz indicating that the ailing airline maybe on the block. Qantas seals the largest aircraft order in Australian history

As announced by Qantas earlier in August 2011, Qantas and Airbus have sealed a contract for 110 Airbus A320 aircraft which makes it the largest order in Australian aviation history. The deal is a combination of 78 of the A320neo aircrafts which are scheduled to join the service from 2016 onwards and 32 A320s, which will be delivered to the carrier starting 2013. Malaysia Airlines launches an app for Google Chrome browser

Malaysia Airlines recently launched an app for Google Chrome named MHquick, the App which is available for free in the Chrome Store allows you to search for flights, manage bookings and check out the Enrich Account details. Although the app is in Beta but it still is pretty nifty and easy to use. The App is available here. This app is the latest offering from the airline after launching their mobile site, and Facebook app. The OneWorld member elect is really ramping up its presence in the digital world with various initiatives and this is definitely a very good step in that path.
